Doppio builds its coffee out of a shipping container on Keppel Street, and the dog policy comes from the source: the venue's own Instagram profile describes it as family and dog friendly, and patrons report settling in at the outdoor seating with their dogs. Bathurst mornings run cold enough that the early opening matters, and the outdoor tables are where both the dog and the bacon and egg roll payoff happen. Keppel Street gets plenty of foot traffic between the school run and the cafes strip, so a leashed dog stays settled at the quieter end of the seating.

The vibe

The kitchen turns out bacon and egg rolls, salmon bagels and toasties, with hot chocolate and iced chocolate doing steady work, and reviews single out the early hours as the draw. Doors open 5am on weekdays and 6am on weekends, closing 2pm weekdays and 1pm weekends, so this is a brekky and lunch venue, and the 5am start makes it one of the few places in Bathurst where a pre dawn dog walker earns a proper coffee. The outdoor tables fill with tradies early and thin out by mid morning, which leaves the window for a calm coffee with a dog on the footpath.
