Eglinton Dog Park

Eglinton Dog Park, known to the council as the Amberton Dog Park, is a fully fenced off-leash area on Cinnabar Drive in the Amberton estate, in Perth's northern coastal corridor. It is the go-to secure run for local residents who do not want to drive to the beach, with sand for digging and a drinking fountain on site.

The dog setup

Dogs can go off-lead inside the fenced enclosure, but City of Wanneroo guidelines still require effective control: your dog should respond reliably to commands and return when called, close enough that you can clip the lead back on quickly. Carry a lead at all times. Dogs need a collar with a current registration tag, owners must pick up droppings, and dogs that are aggressive or in heat should not come into the shared yard.

The vibe

The yard has shade sails, a sand surface that diggers love, a water fountain and bins. Regulars report the fountain is not always working, so bring a spare water bowl and do not rely on it. The people are friendly, the park is compact, and there is no separate small dog zone, which is worth knowing if your dog is tiny or timid.

Max: check the water fountain before you count on it. If it is out there is no backup tap nearby, so pack a bowl and a bottle.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Cinnabar Drive within the Amberton estate. Free street parking is available right next to the park, and it is an easy walk from most of the surrounding residential streets.

Close by with the dogs

The Kinkuna Park fenced dog park is another fenced option in the same suburb, with the Kinkuna Park walk alongside for an on-lead leg stretch. For something after the run, the Amberton Beach Bar and Restaurant welcomes dogs in its outdoor alfresco area, with ocean views down the road.

Weekday mornings before 8am and evenings from 5pm to 6pm draw the local crowd; a midweek afternoon is the quiet bet for a shy dog. More dog parks in Western Australia and the rest of Eglinton are on the site.
