The Amberton Beach Bar & Restaurant

The Amberton Beach Bar & Restaurant sits right on the Eglinton foreshore at 2 Idyllic View, an open-air beach club style venue where the whole western deck looks out over the Indian Ocean. Dogs are officially welcome across the outdoor dining, alfresco and beach club areas, which makes sunset here one of the better coastal tables for dog owners on Perth's northern fringe.

The dog setup

Dogs join you on the outdoor deck, the shaded terrace and the beach club seating; the indoor bar and dining room is off limits under the venue's health and venue guidelines. Staff are used to serving the outdoor tables with dogs in tow and water bowls are often put out, though ask your server to confirm on a busy day and carry a backup bowl. Keep dogs leashed and off the seating, and pick a table with clearance from the walkway to the playground if your dog startles easily.

Worth knowing

The menu runs from steak sandwiches and chicken burgers to fish and chips and prawns, matched with a full bar list. Hours run 11am to 10pm Monday through Thursday, with an 11pm close on Friday and Saturday. There is a playground on site and live music on a regular basis, so expect the alfresco to fill on weekend evenings; weekday lunch or an early dinner is the quiet window.

Getting there and parking

The Amberton is just off Marmion Avenue in the Amberton estate, with free parking directly in front of the venue plus overflow street parking nearby. From the car park it is a short walk across the foreshore to the deck.

Close by with the dogs

Burn energy before you order at Kinkuna Park fenced dog park on Impressions Drive, or the grassed Eglinton Dog Park with its sandpit and water stations. For a proper swim, Quinns Dog Beach is a short drive south down Marmion Avenue.
