Quinns Dog Beach

Quinns Dog Beach is the City of Wanneroo's designated off-leash stretch on Perth's northern coast, running north from Tapping Way along the Quinns Rocks foreshore. Open sand, limestone bluffs and a committed local dog crowd have made it one of the busiest dog beaches north of the city.

Leash status

Off-leash running and swimming is permitted only within the signposted section north of Tapping Way, and the beach is open to dogs around the clock. Even off lead, dogs must stay under effective voice control. The coastal walk path and the residential foreshore reserve behind the beach are on lead at all times, the main swimming beach to the south is not a dog zone, and picking up after your dog is enforced, with bag dispensers and bins near the access points.

Water and terrain

The beach is wide and sandy with limestone rock formations along the section, and the groynes create calmer pockets for a swim on the right tide. Rockier patches depend on where you come down onto the sand, so pick your entry with a small dog or an older one in mind. Dune access paths and ramps link Ocean Drive to beach level, and the sunsets here are the reason the evening crowd keeps coming.

Pepsi: the ocean swell can pull even on a calm-looking day, so stay between your dog and the horizon and skip the swim on big-swell afternoons.

Getting there and parking

Take Marmion Avenue north to Ocean Drive in Quinns Rocks and continue north to the signed dog exercise area, with parking off Camira Way near the dedicated dog beach car park and in street bays along Ocean Drive. Bays fill early on sunny weekends. Transperth buses reach Quinns Rocks but not the sand itself, so driving is the practical choice.
