Quinns Dog Beach

Quinns Dog Beach runs along the northern stretch of Ocean Drive in Quinns Rocks, a signposted off-leash strip where the appeal is simple: open sand, limestone cliffs, and room for a dog to properly run.

The rules. Off-leash is permitted only within the designated, signposted section at the northern end. Dogs must stay under effective voice control at all times, and it's strictly on-lead on the coastal walk path and the residential foreshore reserve behind the beach. The main swimming beach to the south and Frederick Stubbs Park are both off-limits to dogs. Picking up after your dog is mandatory; bag dispensers are around, but it's worth carrying your own as a backup.

What's there. Sandy paths lead down from Ocean Drive to beach level, with public bins along the way. Parking is limited to on-street bays and a few small designated spots, and they fill fast on sunny weekends, so an early start pays off.

Getting there. Head north on Marmion Avenue, turn onto Ocean Drive, and keep going north until the signed dog exercise area appears. Transperth buses service Quinns Rocks, though transit options to the beach itself are limited, so driving is the practical option for most visits.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes with dog-friendly outdoor seating cluster around Mindarie Marina a short drive south, and there's a decent spread of pet-accepting holiday rentals in Quinns Rocks and Mindarie for anyone making a weekend of it.

Weekday mornings and mid-afternoons are the quiet window; weekend mornings and late weekday afternoons draw the biggest crowds. Tide matters more than most beaches like this: low tide opens up a wide run of sand, while high tide narrows things considerably, so time your visit around the tide chart if your dog needs the room.
