Six Degrees

Six Degrees sits right on the boardwalk at Mindarie Marina, at 33 Ocean Falls Boulevard, a casual cafe and dessert bar where the outdoor waterfront tables are open to dogs. The combination of marina views and a dessert menu built around Simmo's ice cream makes it an easy stop mid-walk rather than a destination meal.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the open-air boardwalk tables, but not inside the cafe itself. The boardwalk and marina canals are unfenced, so keep your dog on a short lead the whole time you are seated; there is water on three sides and plenty of foot traffic. Bring your own water bowl rather than assuming one will be offered, as it is a busy marina cafe and staff are not always free to fetch one.

Worth knowing

The headline act is Simmo's ice cream, backed by toasts, sandwiches, smoothies, milkshakes and solid coffee, with gluten free flavours among the sorbets. It trades from about 6:30am to 4pm on weekdays and later on weekends, so it covers both an early coffee and an afternoon ice cream run. Mornings are the easiest window for an outdoor table before the weekend lunch crowd builds.

Getting there and parking

Parking is free and plentiful in the car parks next to the marina, and access from the car park to the boardwalk is flat and step-free, which makes it simple for dogs of any age or mobility.

Close by with the dogs

Quinns Dog Beach is a short drive north and the closest stretch of coast where your dog can swim off-lead. For the next coffee stop, Brewed Awakening in Clarkson and Piggy Back Cafe in Jindalee are both nearby, and Union Kitchen serves the same marina strip.
