Piggy Back Cafe

Piggy Back Cafe is a neighbourhood breakfast-and-brunch spot on Curragundi Road in Jindalee, popular with the local dog-walking crowd for its spacious outdoor seating and its own house doggy ice cream. It runs 6:30am to 2pm, seven days.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, with indoors kept for humans. Water bowls go out for visiting dogs, and the menu runs to Hugo's Doggie Ice Cream, a coconut-based frozen treat that covers your dog while you cover brunch.

Keep dogs leashed and settled beside the table, especially on weekends when the brunch queue builds and the outdoor area fills. The space is generous by suburban-cafe standards, so there is room to tuck a dog out of foot traffic.

Max: the doggy ice cream is the reason this cafe ends up in every westside dog conversation. Order it when you sit down, not when you leave.

The menu

The kitchen leans modern Australian with Asian touches: crispy chicken burgers, steak sandwiches and prawn tacos, plus vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. Coffee is Fonzie Abbott, and the presentation has made the place an Instagram regular.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at 86 Curragundi Road, Jindalee, with free parking around the cafe plus street parking nearby. The 2pm close makes it a breakfast and lunch venue rather than an afternoon stop.

While you're out there

The Wilsons Walkway through Mt Ommaney bushland is the natural leg-stretch beforehand, and Jindalee Boat Ramp Park and Capital Park are both a short walk away. Chase the Rider is the alternative coffee stop, and Thomas Macleod Park at Sinnamon Park adds a fenced option nearby.
