Wilsons Walkway Mt Ommaney Bushland Reserve

Wilsons Walkway is a short dirt-and-gravel trail through Mt Ommaney Bushland Reserve, tracing the Brisbane River between residential Jindalee and the wider reserve, good for a quick leashed walk with river views.

The rules. Dogs must stay on a leash for the full walkway. It runs through a protected bushland area (a Habitat Brisbane site), so keep dogs on the formed path to protect the local flora and fauna, and make sure registration is current with Brisbane City Council.

The terrain. A short out-and-back of roughly 1 to 1.5km, about 30 to 45 minutes round trip, on dirt and gravel with some steep sections. The track narrows and gets muddy after rain.

What's there. Waste bins at both ends of the walkway, benches along the path, and informal gravel parking near the trail entrances. Public toilets are available nearby at Summit Place. A water bubbler with dog bowls is sometimes on hand near the trailhead, but do not rely on it.

Getting there. Access points sit around Mount Ommaney Drive, Jindalee QLD 4074, reachable via the Centenary Highway and local streets. Nearby Translink bus routes serve the Jindalee and Mount Ommaney area. Parking is tight on weekend mornings, so arrive early.

Nearby with the dogs. Cafes with outdoor seating are about 2km away around Mt Ommaney Centre for a post-walk coffee.

Best on a weekday mid-morning or early on weekend mornings, before the heat builds and while parking is still easy. Good for a short, scenic leg-stretch rather than a big-distance hike.
