Marri Trail

At 10 kilometres, the Marri Trail is the long option in Crooked Brook Forest, a moderate circuit through jarrah and marri timber about 10 kilometres south of Dardanup. Dogs can come, but they stay on a lead the whole way.

Lead rules

This is state forest run by the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions in the Shire of Dardanup. Leads are required at all times on the trail.

The walk

Expect natural earth underfoot, with single track mixed into wider fire management tracks. The ground undulates a little and is rough in places, so it is a proper outing rather than a stroll.

The canopy keeps most of the circuit in deep shade. Lookouts open up views across the coastal plain toward Bunbury, and spring brings a strong wildflower show.

Max: There is no water out on the circuit. Carry plenty for both of you, more than you think for 10 kilometres.

Getting started

The main Crooked Brook Forest car park is free and has toilets, barbecues, picnic tables and shelters. Bins are limited out on the track, so pack out your dog's waste.

Spring and the cooler months suit it best. It is one for fit dogs used to a long walk, while the short loops near the car park suit the rest.
