Ruby's Brew

Ruby's Brew is a small coffee shop at 11 Collins Street in the middle of Donnybrook, right across the road from the Apple Fun Park, and it has quietly built a 4.9-star reputation on strong coffee and house-baked cakes. It trades Monday to Friday from 7am to 1pm and Saturday mornings 8am to noon, closing Sundays. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating, with leashed dogs settling in beside your chair.

The dog setup

Seating for dogs is outdoors on the footpath, in line with WA cafe rules, and there is no dedicated dog menu. The Apple Fun Park side of the street gives your dog something to watch while you order. Bring your own water bowl and ask staff for a top-up; hours can shift with weather or supplies, so check the cafe's Facebook page before a long drive in.

What to order

The counter cakes are the draw: carrot cake and chocolate brownies rotate through, baked in-house, and the flat white is well regarded with alternative milks including almond done properly. It is a quick-bite menu rather than a full brunch kitchen.

Getting there and parking

Collins Street runs through the town centre, an easy stop for travellers on the South Western Highway heading between Bunbury and the southern forests. Street parking along Collins Street is simple.

While you're out there

Walk the Apple Fun Park perimeter opposite (the fenced play area itself is for kids), then cross the pedestrian suspension bridge off Clifford Road behind Repco to the Shire's designated off-leash exercise area on the north side of the Preston River. Keep your dog on-lead until you are across the bridge; the southern banks stay on-lead. For a second stop in town, Sips and Treats on South Western Highway has outdoor seating for dogs too.
