Ruby's Brew is a small, locally loved coffee stop on Collins Street in the heart of Donnybrook, right across the road from the Apple Fun Park. Dogs are welcome to join you at the outdoor footpath tables while you work through a flat white and a slice of the carrot cake this place is known for.

The dog setup. Seating for dogs is outdoors and on the footpath only, in line with the usual rule for WA cafes. Staff are used to well-behaved dogs on leash at the outdoor tables, but there is no dedicated dog menu, so bring your own water bowl and ask if you would like a top-up.

Good to know. Ruby's Brew has built its name on strong coffee and homemade cakes, particularly the carrot cake and brownies. It is only open Wednesday to Saturday mornings, so check their Facebook page before making the trip.

Getting there. Street parking right along Collins Street is easy, and the cafe sits in the middle of town, an easy stroll from the Apple Fun Park and the Preston River footpaths.

Nearby with the dogs. Walk the perimeter of the Apple Fun Park opposite (the fenced play area itself is off limits to dogs), or head down to the Preston River footpath for a longer stretch of the legs.

Go on a quiet weekday morning if you want a table to yourselves, the small footpath seating fills up fast on weekends.
