Sips and Treats

Sips and Treats is a coffee, ice cream and sweet-treats stop on the South Western Highway in Donnybrook, an easy walk from the town centre. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables and footpath seating, which makes it a practical stop on a highway run through the South West with the dog aboard.

The dog setup

Dogs stay in the outdoor area and on the footpath rather than inside, which is the standard setup for WA cafes. Staff are generally happy to fill a water bowl on request, but bringing your own collapsible bowl removes the guesswork on a hot day.

The vibe

The coffee pulls local weight, poured over Bannister Downs milk with Margaret River Roasters beans, and the cabinet runs to Simmo's ice cream, milkshakes, cakes and slices. It is a quick, community-feeling stop rather than a sit-down brunch destination.

Hours run 9:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Wednesday and Friday, 10am to 3pm on weekends, with Thursdays closed, so a Thursday drive needs a different coffee plan.

Getting there and parking

The shop sits at 78A South Western Highway with street parking directly out front and along the highway. From the main part of Donnybrook it is a short, flat walk.

Make a day of it

The Apple Fun Park playground is across the road; dogs can walk its edges on lead but stay out of the fenced play area. The Preston River walk loops the river on a leash-only trail, with Egan Park and the footbridge close by for a longer leg-stretch.
