The dog setup
Dogs join you outdoors only, on a lead for the whole visit, with tables overlooking the vineyard and dam. The house policy asks you to enquire and confirm when you book, which is worth doing properly: it lets the hosts set up a dog-friendly table and protects your spot if an event or harvest timing changes access. Bring a mat so your dog has a clean place to settle, and pack your own water bowl since supplies are not guaranteed.

The vibe
The Hammond family makes premium small-batch Geographe wines on site, and the cellar door pours them with a local reputation for hospitable, informative hosting. The cafe adds local cheese and antipasto platters, and wood-fired pizza brings the weekend crowds. A craft brewery operation, Ned's Brews Club, sits alongside the wine side. Tastings run weekends only, 11am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday.
Getting there and parking
The drive runs about 30 minutes from Bunbury or 45 minutes from Busselton, with the final stretch on gravel country roads. Parking is free on site with room to turn a caravan, handy for travellers working down south-west WA.
Make a day of it
The Ferguson Valley to the west makes the natural pairing. Ferguson Falls Wines Cafe combines a cellar door with a cafe and Saint Aidan Wines adds another dog-friendly stop in the same valley, both within an easy drive of Paynedale.
