Burekup toilet

The Burekup short-stay RV parking area sits beside the Burekup Hall on Russell Road, Burekup, in the Shire of Dardanup south of Perth. It is one of the Shire's official free RV stops rather than a caravan park: three demarcated bays for self-contained vehicles, next to the public toilets, the oval and the town playground. The Shire runs a matching stop at Dardanup Hall, so the two towns cover travellers rolling down the Ferguson Valley.

Dogs are welcome at the stop, kept on a lead and under effective control, and owners clean up after them. The useful extra is the oval next door: the Shire notes an off-leash exercise area there when it is not in use by the school, which is rare for an overnight stop and gives the dog a proper run after a long driving day.

The Shire's conditions apply: a maximum stay of 24 hours within any six consecutive days, vehicles must be fully self-contained, and no tents, annexes or temporary structures. Camp and cooking fires are prohibited. No permit is needed and there is nothing to book.

The vibe

Travellers describe it as clean, peaceful and well located for a one-night stop while passing through, with the playground and oval on the doorstep. It is a workhorse overnighter, not a destination: no power, no showers, no dump point guaranteed on site, so arrive with full water and empty tanks.

Getting there and parking

Burekup lies between Bunbury and Dardanup on the Ferguson Valley side of the highway, about two hours south of Perth. The bays are at the hall site on Russell Road, first-come first-served, with all three bays visible on arrival so you can see quickly whether the night is a go.

Close by with the dogs

Stock up at Dardanup or Bunbury before settling in. If you want a real dog run nearby, Watson Reserve at Eaton is the closest marked reserve with open space, and the Eaton Tavern sits on the route south. Longer-haul travellers with a dog can push inland to Wambenger Lodge at Collie for an indoor option.
