Watson Reserve

Watson Reserve is a flat, riverside green space on Pratt Road in Eaton, running along the Collie River south of Bunbury. It is a designated dog exercise area with no time restrictions, which makes it one of the more reliable off-leash options in the Shire of Dardanup.

The dog setup

The reserve, including the path linking through to Leicester Reserve, is open for off-leash exercise around the clock, with dogs kept under effective control at all times. Carry a leash even when your dog is off it, and keep it on near the river's edge, which is the Shire's own recommendation.

Keep dogs out of the sensitive bushland and wetland pockets within the reserve, clean up on the spot using the bags and bins provided, and expect dogs to be leashed during any Shire-approved events on the reserve.

The vibe

The paths are flat, paved and easy underfoot, good for a stroll or a longer loop, with shade, open grass and river views along the way. Parking and entrances are wheelchair accessible, and public restrooms sit near the park area.

It is a relaxing, low-key spot popular with walkers and picnickers rather than a structured dog park, so the feel is open parkland with a river backdrop.

Getting there

The reserve sits on Pratt Road at 141 Pratt Road, Eaton, reached via Forrest Highway and Eaton Drive, with parking on site and accessible bays available. Bunbury and Eaton bus routes run nearby; check the closest stop on Pratt Road if you are relying on transit.

While you're out there

The link path to the Leicester Reserve extends the riverside walk, and the Eaton Tavern is a nearby stop for a meal with the dog at the outdoor tables.

Weekday evenings, Mondays and midweek days are the quietest stretches, while Sunday mornings and afternoons draw the most dog walkers, so get in early for the paths to yourself. Confirm signage on arrival, as exercise-area boundaries can be adjusted by the Shire.
