Deagon Wetlands

Freshwater lagoons and a timber bird hide set Deagon Wetlands apart from a standard suburban loop. It sits on the Deagon and Bracken Ridge border in Brisbane's north, and dogs are welcome on lead.

Lead rules

Brisbane City Council requires dogs on a leash and under effective control at all times. This is a protected wetland with plenty of wildlife, so there is no off-lead section.

The walk

Paths mix paved bikeway with flat, packed-dirt parkland track, and they link into the Third Lagoon bikeway network. Along the way you pass the lagoons, open grassy parkland and the bird hide.

Max: The bird hide is for quiet watching. Keep the lead short and let the birds be.

Make a day of it

Arthur Davis Park in Sandgate is another walk nearby. Finish with a coffee at Capulet & Co.

When to go

The flat ground suits older dogs and easy strollers alike. Bikes use the paved sections, so keep your dog to the side, and bring water for the dog.
