Arthur Davis Park

Arthur Davis Park sits right on the Sandgate foreshore at 231 Flinders Parade, looking across Bramble Bay to the Redcliffe Peninsula. The big draw is what is next door, the Sandgate foreshore off-lead area on the sand and mudflats.

Leads and the off-lead area

Brisbane City Council requires dogs to be on lead in the park grounds, on the paved paths and around the playground. The signed off-lead area runs along the beach and mudflats between Second Avenue in Sandgate and Zeehan Street in Shorncliffe.

The walk

A flat, sealed promenade runs past the park under Norfolk pines, with bay views the whole way. It carries on towards Shorncliffe Pier in one direction and Brighton in the other.

Mature trees and picnic shelters shade the park itself, but parts of the foreshore path are open. Taps and fountains sit along the path network, bins line Flinders Parade, and there is free street parking beside the park.

Pepsi: Time it for low to mid tide. The flats open right up and there are shallow puddles to splash in.

Make a day of it

Sandgate has good coffee close by, including Capulet & Co and Baaia.

A sea breeze helps in summer, but the exposed stretches still need an early start.
