Pomona Showground

Pomona Showground is a camping and caravan ground run by the Noosa Show Society at the foot of Mount Cooroora in the Noosa hinterland. It is a straightforward, dog-friendly overnight option for campers: grassy, flat sites and country-show surrounds rather than a polished holiday park, and that is exactly its appeal.

Dogs at the showground

Dogs are allowed to stay overnight in the caravan park and camping area and must be kept on a lead. Pet-friendly camping suits caravans, RVs, fifth-wheelers and tents. No separate pet fee is noted; you pay the standard powered or unpowered site rates, and no size limit is listed.

Because this is a working showground, confirm availability and current rules with the caretakers or the Noosa Show Society before you arrive, and check whether a show or event is booked over your dates. Keep the lead on and pick up after the dog, since this is shared, multi-use ground.

The vibe

Expect country-show facilities: a camp kitchen, barbecues, hot showers, clean amenities, a laundry and on-site caretakers. Sites are grassy and flat, which makes for an easy setup with a dog in tow, and the setting under Mount Cooroora is quieter than anything on the coastal strip.

Getting there and out with the dog

The showground sits at the edge of Pomona, a short drive off the Bruce Highway between Cooroy and Kin Kin, with the town's main street minutes away. The Mount Cooroora trailhead is right next door, so a leg-stretch walk with the dog starts at your doorstep, though the summit climb is steep and better judged against your dog's fitness. In town, The Scullery Cafe and Drip Koffee House cover coffee, and the Historic Pomona Hotel is the fallback stay if the ground is closed for an event. Cooroy Caravan Park is the other pet friendly option down the road.
