Noosaville Off Leash, Shorehaven Park, Noosaville

Shorehaven Park is a designated off-leash dog exercise area on the bank of Weyba Creek at the end of Shorehaven Drive, inside the Noosa Waters estate. Open grass runs down to a shallow, sandy, tidal shore, which makes it the quieter suburban alternative to Noosa's main dog beach.

Leash status

The marked area along the creek is off-leash under Noosa Shire Council rules, with dogs under effective voice control the whole time. Carry a lead with you and clip it on the moment you step out of the zone and on the surrounding residential streets. Dogs are excluded from the children's playground and the picnic and barbecue spots, they need to be council registered and wearing a tag, and bags are on you even though bins are provided on site.

The dog setup

This is an unfenced reserve with water right at the grass line, so it rewards dogs with reliable recall. The shore is tidal: high tide brings water close to the grass for paddling, while low tide opens up more sand to walk and sniff along. It is calm, shallow water rather than surf, which suits waders more than strong swimmers, and it never takes on the swell you get on the open coast.

Max: no fence and tidal water at the edge, so work out where the grass stops before you let a keen swimmer off the lead.

Getting there and parking

Drive to the end of Shorehaven Drive inside Noosa Waters; street parking along the approach is the only option, and it is easy outside peak holiday weeks. TransLink buses run through Noosaville but a car is the practical way in. Gympie Terrace and its cafe strip are a few minutes away if you want to build a morning around the visit.

Worth knowing

Facilities are simple: maintained grass, bins, and not much shade at midday, so bring water for the dog and a hat for you. Early mornings and late afternoons are when the locals come through. After rain, the creek can carry runoff, so check the water before letting a drinker loose.

Weyba Creek Park sits further along the same waterway if you want a second stop on the creek. For a swim day, the Noosa Heads Doggy Beach at the Spit is the big off-leash sand option.
