The Bay Caravan Park sits at 1-9 McLiver Street in Kawungan, a few minutes inland from the Hervey Bay foreshore. It is a quiet, gated park that mixes long-term residents with rental cabins and sites, and its main appeal for dog owners is the location: the beach, the esplanade and a stack of off-leash options are all within a short drive. Within the park grounds, dogs stay on leash and under control at all times. Worth knowing

Because the park is gated, contact the on-site management for entry instructions when you arrive, especially if you get in late. Each cabin and site has dedicated parking. Stockland shopping centre is close by for groceries and pet supplies, which matters when there is no pet gear on site to fall back on.

Getting there and parking

Kawungan is one of the northern suburbs of Hervey Bay, about 15 minutes from Urangan and the marina and roughly 3.5 hours north of Brisbane. Parking is at your cabin or site, and the esplanade at Scarness and Torquay is a five minute drive toward the water.

Close by with the dogs

The Hervey Bay Esplanade gives you leashed walking for days, and for proper off-leash time the Scarness beach dogs off leash 24/7 area and the Urangan off-leash dog beach are both close. The Urangan Public dog park covers fenced play, and Sea Breeze Cafe at Scarness is a solid post-beach coffee stop.
