Urangan Public dog park

Urangan Public dog park is a fully fenced off-leash park at 44 Vista Street, set back from the Esplanade in a quiet residential pocket of Hervey Bay. It is a straightforward neighbourhood enclosure: secure fencing, room to run, and enough space for a proper off-leash session without traffic worries.

The dog setup

The perimeter is fully fenced and the ground is mostly grassed with some uneven sandy sections, so keep an eye on paws and quick turns. Bench seating lines the enclosure for owners, and bins are on site. Parking sits within the park itself and the entrance is wheelchair accessible.

Fraser Coast Regional Council rules apply: dogs must be registered and up to date with vaccinations, owners need to stay present with their dog under voice control, and clean-up is expected. Restricted or dangerous dogs are not permitted, and any dog becoming a nuisance to others should be leashed and taken home. Bags are provided at the park, though carrying spares is never a bad idea.

Max: in the warmer months the mosquitoes can be active here. Bring repellent and check your dog over before you leave.

Worth knowing

Amenities are basic, so bring your own water, especially on humid Hervey Bay mornings. Early mornings are usually the quietest time to visit. Weekday evenings and weekend afternoons draw more dogs, which suits a confident social dog but is worth avoiding if yours prefers a calmer run.

Getting there and parking

Drive in via the Esplanade and the surrounding residential streets to Vista Street. Buses run along the nearby Esplanade, but the park is mainly reached by car given its tucked-away position. On-site parking means the walk from car to gate is a short one.

Close by with the dogs

The 24/7 off-leash dog beach on the Urangan foreshore is a short drive away, where the sand between the Margaret Street groyne and Dayman Park is open to dogs around the clock. If you want another fenced option, the Augustus Estate fenced dog park at Urraween and the Urraween Dog Park both work as backups. For coffee afterwards, the Pier Village Cafe near the pier welcomes dogs.
