Lenox Avenue Rundle Street

Lenox Avenue is a cafe-bar-restaurant at 278A Rundle Street in Adelaide's East End, doing all-day dining from breakfast through dinner with a Mediterranean and Asian-leaning menu. It is one of the few spots on the strip that invites dogs outright, so a footpath table here doubles as the best people-watching seat in the city for you and your dog.

The dog setup

Dogs go at the street-side outdoor tables on Rundle Street rather than inside the dining room, so book or ask for outside when you arrive. Staff are used to canine guests and water is easy to come by, and the venue's own blog invites owners to bring their four-legged companions along, though there is no full dog menu to count on. Keep your dog settled at the table, since the footpath traffic on the strip runs constant.

The kitchen spans breakfast plates like pork belly benedict through to burnt-end pork belly, baked barramundi and dumplings at dinner, with cocktails and specialty coffee covering the hours in between. Trading runs 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday, 8am to 9pm Saturday and 8am to 8:30pm Sunday. Friday nights bring live jazz during The Lenox Sessions, and Mondays have a dumpling special in the evening, when the footpath gets livelier than a dog might enjoy.

Getting there and parking

It is right on Rundle Street in the East End. Metered street parking runs along Rundle Street, East Terrace and the side streets, and Wilson Parking at 8 Union Street sits around the corner. Buses run along the eastern end of the city and it is a short walk from the free CBD tram loop.

Close by with the dogs

The All Dog Park in the Park Lands is a short walk north for an off-lead run before you claim a table, and the Rundle Street promenade itself makes an easy leashed stroll.
