Homeland Café

Homeland Cafe is a small owner run coffee spot on the corner of King William Street, Kent Town, doing gourmet toasties, banana bread and a steady line of house baked treats. It is a weekday operation: 7am to 2:30pm Monday to Friday, closed weekends apart from the odd seasonal opening, so build the visit around a workday.

The dog setup

The indoor space is compact, so dogs belong at the casual sidewalk tables out front or beside you at the open corner threshold while you wait on the takeaway. Leashed and settled close to the table works best, since the corner pavement is tight and foot traffic is constant through the morning. No standing water station is confirmed, so carry a bowl for your dog.

Worth knowing

Regulars rate the flat whites, fresh muffins, brownies and cookies, and the personal service from the owners is part of the draw, the kind of counter where your order is remembered. This is a quick coffee and snack stop, not a long brunch sit, and the weekend closure catches out first timers heading east from the city on a Saturday.

Getting there and parking

It sits at 1 King William Street, Kent Town, just over the parklands edge from the city. Street parking nearby is free but tightens around the lunch rush, so coming on foot from the east end or the Norwood side is often simpler.

Close by with the dogs

A short walk west brings you to the parklands, where All Dog Park gives your dog a proper off lead run, while dogs are required on leash elsewhere across the Rymill Park side.
