The Flinders Street Project

The Flinders Street Project is the produce-led cafe on Flinders Street in the Adelaide CBD that you spot before you find it, thanks to the thousands of wooden spoons strung across the ceiling. Dogs join you at the footpath tables out front, which makes it a reliable city brunch stop on a walk through the east end.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor street-facing tables on the Flinders Street footpath; inside is for assistance dogs only, in line with food-safety rules. The outdoor area has undercover and heated options, so it works in less-than-perfect weather. Staff are accommodating, but bring your own collapsible water bowl rather than counting on one. There is no fee and no booking needed for a footpath table.

The vibe and the menu

The kitchen is genuinely creative for a city cafe: eggs benedict, waffles, hash browns and a pulled pork dish are regulars, and the sourdough toast comes from serious bread. Banana bread covers the coffee-accompaniment brief. Portions are generous and the room has an indie, projects-everywhere feel that matches the name. Weekends trade from 8am to 2pm.

Getting there and parking

The cafe is at 276 Flinders Street, Adelaide, near the Hutt Street end of the CBD. Street parking runs along Flinders Street and the side streets toward Hutt Street, mostly time-restricted, so check the signs. It is an easy walk from the parklands side of the city.

Close by with the dogs

The city dog parks in the South Parklands are a short walk away, including the All Dog Park for an off-lead run before brunch.
