The Precinct Café

Staff have a friendly reputation and will usually bring water out, though packing your own travel bowl is the safe play on warm days. Keep your dog leashed and clear of the footpath traffic, and remember the indoor room is for diners only.

The vibe and the menu

The draw is the coffee, rated among the better pours on the southern side of the CBD, alongside hearty breakfasts and quick lunches. Hours run roughly 7am to 2pm Monday to Friday, with weekends closed, so this is a working-week stop rather than a weekend brunch destination. Mid-morning after the first rush is the sweet spot.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits at 27 Carrington Street, an easy walk from King William Street and Hurtle Square. Street parking on Carrington Street itself is limited, with paid parking options in the surrounding blocks. Buses along the main north-south routes cover anyone arriving without a car.

Close by with the dogs

Hurtle Square is a couple of minutes east for a grassy leg-stretch, and Victoria Square is about five minutes west. For a proper pre-coffee run, the fenced enclosure at Adelaide Fenced Dog Park (Small Dogs) is in the parklands. Phat Coffee and Mister Pigeon are other CBD stops worth a lap.
