Phat Coffee

Phat Coffee is a casual, down-to-earth coffee shop on the West End of Hindley Street, popular with students and city workers who want a proper coffee without ceremony. If yours is nervous, a quieter morning hour is the kinder choice, and mid-week you will have the pick of the tables anyway.

The draw is well-rated coffee and hot chocolate plus house-made sandwiches and quick bites, with solid vegetarian options. This is a working-week venue: it trades 7am to 3pm Monday to Friday and closes on weekends, so plan it for a weekday walk. It is a grab-a-coffee stop more than a sit-down brunch destination, and priced accordingly.

Getting there and parking

Find it at 207 Hindley Street. Metered parking is limited along Hindley and the side streets like Fenn Place, and it is a short walk from the UniSA City West campus, Adelaide Railway Station and the City West tram stop, so arriving on foot with the dog is the natural option.

While you are out there

The West Terrace parklands are a few blocks west for a proper run, and the River Torrens Linear Park is a 10 to 15 minute walk north for a longer waterside walk. For off-lead time, the Adelaide All Dog Park is the dedicated option. If the footpath is full, The Precinct Cafe and Mister Pigeon are nearby dog-friendly alternatives.
