Good to know. The signature is the serpme kahvalti, a generous shared Turkish breakfast of cheeses, olives, spreads, eggs and fresh bread, alongside baklava, Turkish delight cheesecake and proper Turkish coffee. It is a sit-and-linger meal rather than a quick coffee, so it suits a settled dog.

Getting there and parking. The cafe is at 162 Gilbert Street. Street parking runs along Gilbert Street and the side streets, so check the signs for time limits. It is easily reached by the South Terrace tram or the free City Connector buses.

Nearby with the dogs. The South Parklands are a short walk south, where the Pityarilla activity hub has a fully fenced off-leash dog park with separate small- and large-dog sections, a good way to run the dog before settling in to eat.

Come with time to spare and a hungry table; the shared breakfast is built for lingering. A characterful, genuinely welcoming choice for a slow dog-friendly brunch.
