Little France

Little France is a small French cafe at 114 South Terrace in the Adelaide CBD, across from Veale Gardens, trading in croissants, pastries, thick Parisian-style hot chocolate and good coffee. It leans into being dog-friendly rather than just tolerating dogs, with puppycinos and treats on offer for canine guests.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor seating looking over the parklands, the natural spot at a small city cafe. Water bowls and treats are part of the routine, and the puppycino is a genuine menu item rather than a favour. Indoor seating is tight and fills quickly, so ask on arrival if the weather pushes you inside, and carry a travel bowl as backup on busy mornings.

Worth knowing

The thick hot chocolate is the signature, backed by croissants, galettes, a croque monsieur and a small French brunch and lunch menu. It opens Tuesday to Friday from 7am to 2:30pm and 8am to 3pm on weekends, closing Mondays. The space is cosy and intimate, so a calm dog suits it best, and mid-morning on a weekday is the quiet window before weekend brunch fills the footpath.

Getting there and parking

South Terrace runs along the southern edge of the CBD. Street parking on South Terrace and the surrounding blocks is metered and time limited, so check signs, and Adelaide Metro buses along the terrace stop close by. On foot it is an easy walk from Hutt Street.

Close by with the dogs

Veale Gardens directly across the road gives an easy on-lead pre- or post-coffee stroll, and the All Dog Park in the parklands is a short drive for proper off-lead time. Peter Rabbit Cafe on the eastern side of the city is another dog-friendly brunch stop.
