Fenced Dog Park (Small Dog)

This is the small-dog enclosure of Pityarilla Dog Park, the fully fenced off-leash park inside the Pelzer Park / Pityarilla Activity Hub on South Terrace in the southern Park Lands. It is a separate, gated section reserved for small dogs, which means little dogs get a safe run without big dogs in the mix.

The rules. The small-dog enclosure is for dogs 14 kg and under. Dogs must be registered, vaccinated and wearing a visible registration disc, and under effective control inside the fence. Puppies under four months are not permitted. Once inside the fenced area dogs can be off-leash; keep them leashed until both gates are closed behind you.

What's there. The enclosure is fully fenced with double-entry safety gates, so there is an airlock between you and the street. There is night lighting (on until about 10pm), water features and fountains to cool dogs off, sheltered seating for owners, and bins with courtesy bag dispensers. The wider hub has turf, logs and rocks for natural play.

Getting there. It sits in the South Park Lands off South Terrace, near the Hutt Street and South Terrace corner. Street parking is along South Terrace and the nearby streets, and the South Terrace tram stops close by.

Nearby with the dogs. The Hutt Street cafe strip is a short walk north with several dog-friendly footpath cafes for a coffee afterwards.

The lighting makes early mornings and evenings genuinely usable year-round. A reassuring, well-equipped spot for small or timid dogs to run off-leash in the heart of the city.
