What visitors mention
Malt Shovel Taphouse sits on the Riverbank under the Dunstan Playhouse at the Adelaide Festival Centre, a craft-beer bar and kitchen with a wide riverside terrace looking over the Torrens to Adelaide Oval. Dogs are welcome on that terrace, and the view plus the shade make it one of the better spots in the city for a drink with the dog.
The dog setup. Dogs join you in the large outdoor dining area overlooking the river, not inside the main bar and kitchen. The terrace is covered and shaded, so it works across the seasons. Water bowls are usually provided; bring your own as backup on a hot day.
Good to know. The taphouse runs a big rotating beer list (around 48 taps, with tasting paddles) and a casual menu of spit-roasted meats, pizzas and sharing plates. Its location makes it a natural pre-show stop for the Festival Centre or a pre- or post-match base for Adelaide Oval events, so expect it to be busy around show and game times.
Getting there and parking. It is on Festival Drive, an easy walk from the city across the Riverbank Footbridge or down King William Road. The Wilson Parking Festival Centre carpark is the closest off-street option, and the venue is minutes from Adelaide Railway Station and the North Terrace tram stops.
Nearby with the dogs. Elder Park is right alongside with big grassy lawns, and the River Torrens Linear Park trail runs past the front of the venue for a scenic on-lead walk in either direction.

Aim for an off-peak afternoon away from show and event times if you want the terrace relaxed. Hard to beat for a riverside beer with the dog stretched out beside you.
