Presidents Park Dog Off Leash Area

Presidents Park Dog Off Leash Area is the wide open-grass zone of Presidents Park in Wyndham Vale, running from the fenced dog park down towards the Werribee River on the park's eastern side. Unlike the enclosed section, this is a big unfenced run for dogs who want room to sprint rather than a boxed-in yard.

The dog setup

Wyndham City Council rules apply. Dogs must be on lead entering and leaving the zone, then can run free only within the designated area and only under effective voice control, meaning you can see them and they come back the moment you call. You must carry a lead, chain or cord at all times, and call your dog back or restrain it whenever other people or dogs approach. Registration tags need to be visible on the collar or leash.

Worth knowing

Waterways are off-limits: dogs must not enter the Werribee River, the creeks or the ponds along the route, and chasing wildlife is prohibited. Around the playground, skate park and any active sports fixtures, dogs stay on lead or out of the way. Waste must be picked up immediately and binned; dog waste bins are placed through the park.

There is no reliable natural water source for dogs in the open zone, so bring your own bowl and water. The broader reserve has toilets, BBQs and paths, but no dog-level drinking stations on the open grass.

Max: unfenced and bordered by a river corridor, so this is a voice-control park, not a let-them-drift park. If recall is still a work in progress, use the fenced enclosure on the same reserve instead.

Getting there

The reserve is accessed via McGrath Road or Greaves Street North in Wyndham Vale, with parking at the reserve's facilities and the fenced dog park corner. Most visitors drive; Werribee and the Princes Freeway are roughly 10 minutes away.

While you're out there

The Presidents Park Fenced Dog Park sits in the same reserve if your dog needs secure boundaries, and Manor Lakes Dog Park is the next suburb over. Werribee Diversion Weir Dog Off Leash Area makes a good river-walk alternative, and Wolf on Watton in Werribee is a dog-friendly coffee stop on the drive home.
