Werribee South Tourist Park

Werribee South Tourist Park is a council-run caravan park on Beach Road, directly opposite Werribee South Beach, with powered sites, cabins and a straightforward pet policy for campers.

The pet policy. Dogs are allowed on your own site if you are in a tent or caravan/van, but they are not permitted inside hired cabins. You need to contact the park directly ahead of time to apply, and approval sits at the manager's discretion, using the park's Pet Owner Agreement form. Inside the park, dogs must be on a leash no longer than 2 metres at all times, supervised, and never left alone in a tent, van or cabin. Dogs are not allowed inside the amenities or laundry blocks.

The place. Grassed powered sites plus cabins, run by Wyndham City Council, with a quiet, low-key feel and a large adjacent oval for a run on the leash.

Location & nearby. About 45 minutes west of Melbourne's CBD. Werribee South Beach is directly across the road for a walk, and the Wyndham Coastal Walk is accessible nearby for a longer stretch. A cafe is roughly a 3-minute walk from the park.

Who it suits. Campers and caravanners travelling with a dog who are happy staying in their own tent or van rather than a cabin, and who want beach access without a long drive from Melbourne.

Book ahead and confirm your pet application before you travel, sites near the beach fill fast over summer weekends.
