Werribee South Tourist Park

Werribee South Tourist Park is a council-run caravan park on Beach Road, directly opposite Werribee South Beach and about 45 minutes west of Melbourne's CBD. It has powered sites, cabins and a pet policy that is clear about one thing: dogs stay in your own tent or van, not in the hired cabins.

Dogs at Werribee South Tourist Park

Dogs are allowed on your own site when you are staying in a tent or caravan, and are not permitted inside hired cabins. You need to contact the park before arrival to apply, and approval sits with the manager using the park's Pet Owner Agreement form. Inside the park the rules are explicit: a leash no longer than 2 metres at all times, supervision, no dog left alone in a tent, van or cabin, and no dogs inside the amenities or laundry blocks.

The vibe

This is a quiet, low-key Wyndham City Council park with grassed powered sites and a large adjacent oval for an on-lead run. The beach across the road is the reason most people are here, and sites near the water fill fast over summer weekends.

Getting there and the dog walk

Werribee South Beach is directly across the road, and the Campbells Cove Beach Dog Off Leash Area gives the dog a proper off-lead stretch nearby. A cafe is roughly a three minute walk from the park.

While you're out there

For coffee or a meal with the dog, By The Bay Cafe & Bar is the closest, and Wyndham Cache is the local restaurant option.

Before you book

Get the Pet Owner Agreement sorted before you travel, not at check-in, because a booking alone does not guarantee your dog a spot. The park suits campers and caravanners who are happy in their own rig rather than a cabin, and who want beach access without a long drive from Melbourne.
