Wyndham Cache

Wyndham Cache is a farm-gate style cafe, deli and produce store on K Road in Werribee South, sitting among the market gardens that supply much of Melbourne's vegetables. Dogs are welcome across the open outdoor seating, and the wide rural setting gives your dog more room to settle than the average suburban strip. It is listed among Visit Werribee's fur-friendly picks for the area.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor tables, which look over surrounding farmland and are spaced well apart, so a settled dog is not crowding anyone. Water bowls are typically put out for dogs, though it is worth carrying a backup in warm weather. The indoor deli and dining areas are for people only. Keep your dog leashed; the site mixes diners with customers browsing the produce store, so a calm dog under the table is the etiquette.

What the kitchen does

The menu runs to generous brunch plates, including a well-regarded Farmer's Breakfast and eggs Florentine, with the steak sandwich and scones among the regular mentions. The deli counter stocks local and regional produce, with goods drawn from the neighbouring market gardens and LT's Eggs just down the road. Coffee holds its own reviews. The kitchen serves breakfast from 8am and the main menu winds up around 3pm, with the cafe open 8am to 4pm every day.

Getting there and parking

The cafe sits on K Road in Werribee South with a spacious free car park on site, including accessible bays. It is a few minutes' drive from Werribee's town centre, and the drive out through the market gardens is part of the trip.

Pair it with a walk

The K Road cliffs are close by, with views over the Werribee River and red-dirt escarpments; the lookout paths are on-leash territory with steep drop-offs. For proper off-leash time, the Campbells Cove dog off leash beach is a short drive toward the coast, and the Werribee diversion weir dog off leash area sits up the river. Note that Werribee Open Range Zoo nearby does not admit dogs.
