Crown Park

Crown Park is a small, leafy pocket park on Crystal Street in Waterloo, designated as a dog off-leash area and popular with locals for a quick run-around rather than a long walk.

The rules. Dogs can be off-leash inside the designated area but must stay under effective control, meaning a reliable recall. They need to go back on lead on the surrounding footpaths, and dogs aren't allowed in the children's playground even on a lead. Pick up after your dog and use the provided bins. One person can supervise up to four dogs under City of Sydney rules.

What's there. Grassy lawn, some shade trees, a few benches and waste bins. It's a compact park, not a run-and-fetch space for bigger dogs.

Getting there. Address is 22A Crystal St, Waterloo. Street parking on Crystal Street and surrounding residential roads is limited, and buses run along nearby Elizabeth and Bourke Streets.

Nearby with the dogs. East Village Shopping Centre on Defries Avenue has a run of dog-friendly cafes a short walk away, and the linear parks along Joynton Avenue give more room if Crown Park feels too small.

Quieter mid-morning or early afternoon on weekdays. Weekday mornings, evenings and weekend evenings get busiest, so aim outside those windows if your dog needs space.
