Stiggant Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Stiggant Reserve sits just behind the Warrandyte shopping strip on Stiggant Street, a leafy riverside reserve on the Yarra with an open grassy off-leash space right by the township. It is handy when you want to pair a dog run with a coffee or the monthly market.

The dog setup

Dogs can be off-leash in the designated areas under effective voice control. Leads are required within 15 metres of the children's play equipment, the permanent barbecues, and during organised sporting events, functions or public meetings. Dogs must also be on-lead during community events, including the monthly Warrandyte Riverside Market, and along the river walkway near the Warrandyte Bridge. Clean up after your dog and bring your own bags.

Worth knowing

The reserve has public toilets, a shelter and barbecue facilities, a playground (an on-lead zone) and parking off Stiggant Street, with limited water for dogs, so bring a bowl. The market runs on the first Saturday of the month from 8am to 1pm, barring January, with around 180 stalls along the riverbank. The Yarra can run fast and strong here after rain, so watch dogs near the water's edge.

Max: on the first Saturday of the month the market changes the whole flow of the reserve. Lead on, or come early.

Getting there and parking

Access is via Yarra Street, directly behind the shopping strip, with PTV buses running along Yarra Street a short walk away. On-site parking is off Stiggant Street, though market Saturdays fill it early.

Close by with the dogs

The bigger Warrandyte River Reserve Dog Off Leash Area continues along the river, and Oakland Drive Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is the quieter neighbourhood option. In the township, Now and Not Yet is the local coffee stop.
