Oakland Drive Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Oakland Drive Reserve is a quiet, off-leash neighbourhood reserve in Warrandyte, the kind of spot locals use for a fast walk or a game of fetch away from the busier river reserve. It is a long, flat grassy strip, roughly 100 metres by 30, reached through a residential pathway between houses on Oakland Drive, with a fence along one side where it backs onto Warrandyte High School.

The dog setup

Dogs are off-leash under effective voice or hand control and within sight, with a lead carried at all times. Manningham's standard buffers apply: on-lead within 15 metres of play equipment, barbecues or organised sport, and waste picked up immediately. The ground is not fully fenced, so keep recall-shy dogs close and confirm the current boundary on the council signage when you arrive.

Worth knowing

Amenities are basic: open grass and street parking along Oakland Drive, with no bins, water taps or toilets on site, so bring your own water and waste bags. The narrow layout and light usage make it calmer than the river reserve, which suits anxious dogs.

Max: the road end of the strip is open to traffic. If recall is patchy, work the far end and leash up before you head back.

Access is through the residential pathway between houses on Oakland Drive, with street parking along the same street. Weekday mornings are quietest; locals tend to arrive early morning and late afternoon.
