Lynette Reserve is a quiet, off-leash bushland reserve on Lynette Avenue in a residential pocket of Warrandyte. It is a natural setting rather than a manicured park, and it is usually far calmer than the River Reserve, which makes it a good pick for dogs that prefer space over a crowd.

The rules. Dogs are permitted off-leash in the designated area under effective voice control. Keep dogs on-lead in the surrounding residential streets and any car parking areas, and out of the small playground equipment area. Pick up after your dog; carry spare bags even though bins may be provided. Confirm current boundaries on Manningham Council signage.

What's there. A rustic bush trail and a small children's playground. On-street parking runs along Lynette Avenue. It is best reached by car if you are travelling with dogs.

When to go. Weekday mornings and early afternoons are quietest; weekend mornings draw a few more locals. The bush gives good summer shade but turns muddy after rain, so pack a towel.
