Warrandyte Reserve covers the off-leash bushland and river frontage along Yarra Street in Warrandyte, a natural setting with shaded walking tracks and direct access to the Yarra. It is the same stretch of reserve locals walk daily, with extensive off-leash zones once you are clear of the on-lead buffers.

The rules. Most of the reserve is off-leash with your dog under effective control, but leads are required in a 260-metre section between 183 Yarra Street and the Kangaroo Ground-Warrandyte Road bridge, and within 15 metres of playgrounds, BBQ areas or organised events. Dogs are not permitted in the fenced wonguim wilam playspace. Carry bags and pick up; fines apply. Confirm current boundaries on Manningham Council signage.

What's there. Unsealed riverside tracks, picnic and BBQ areas, bins, and parking pockets along Yarra Street. The Yarra gives dogs a swim, but watch currents after rain.

Getting there. Yarra Street, adjacent to the Warrandyte Bridge, with free street parking. Buses service the township from Ringwood and Eltham.

When to go. Sunny weekends, public holidays and market days are busiest. Weekday mornings and late afternoons are calmer for timid dogs.
