Seville Recreational Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Seville Recreational Reserve is a large community sports precinct on Monbulk-Seville Road with a designated off-leash area across its open ovals. It gives dogs room to stretch out and run, but the key thing to know before you go is that it is largely unfenced and sits close to the road, so this is a park for dogs with solid recall.

The rules. The off-leash area is council-designated by Yarra Ranges, but it is open and unfenced with gaps to the road, so effective voice or visual control matters here. Dogs must go back on-lead within 10 metres of the playground, BBQ and picnic areas, and on-lead during any scheduled matches or training on the ovals. Bring your own bags and pick up after your dog.

What's there. The reserve has public toilets, water, picnic and BBQ facilities, night lighting and a dedicated car park. There is a child-friendly playground adjacent, which is a reason to keep your dog leashed and close on that side.

Getting there. The reserve is at 20 Monbulk-Seville Rd, off the Warburton Highway, with on-site parking. Public transport is limited to regional buses in the area, so most people drive.

Nearby with the dogs. The Carriage Cafe on the Warburton Rail Trail is a short drive away for a trail-side coffee with dogs welcome outdoors, and the rail trail itself is close by for a longer walk.

Weekday afternoons on non-sporting days give you the most space; check whether the ovals are in use before letting your dog off. Best for energetic dogs that come when called.
