Seville Estate

Seville Estate is a boutique, family run winery on Linwood Road in the Upper Yarra Valley, planted back in 1972 and known for cool climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Shiraz. It comes up regularly among the valley's more dog welcoming cellar doors, with dogs allowed across the outdoor areas and often inside for tastings.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome on the large patio and across the outdoor areas, and well behaved dogs are often allowed inside the cellar door while you taste. Water bowls are usually available. Keep your dog on a lead at all times and settled around other guests and staff. Book ahead and mention you are bringing a dog, because outdoor tables fill on weekends.

The vibe

The setting is a garden and vineyard homestead with wide views over the Upper Yarra, and the atmosphere is unpretentious rather than showy. Tastings lean on estate grown fruit, and there is dining overlooking the vines if you want to turn a tasting into lunch. Kangaroos are often spotted around the grounds at the edges of the day, which some dogs find very interesting, so a steady lead helps.

Getting there and parking

The address is 65 Linwood Road, Seville, about an hour east of Melbourne, with parking on site. The cellar door opens Friday to Sunday, 11am to 4pm, and is closed Monday to Thursday, so plan a weekend visit or a Friday.

Make a day of it

The Seville Recreational Reserve Dog Off Leash Area gives your dog a proper run before a tasting, and the Carriage Cafe on the Warburton Rail Trail does a dog friendly breakfast. For a second pour, Morgans Winery & Distillery is nearby with wine and house made spirits.
