Merindah Park Dog Off Leash Area

Merindah Park is a Bayside off-leash reserve in Sandringham built for running and fetching: wide, open grass with room to move. It is off-leash around the clock, but the key thing to know up front is that the perimeter is unfenced, so recall matters here.

The rules. Dogs can be off-leash but must stay under effective voice control and in sight at all times, ready to be recalled and leashed if needed. The car park is an on-leash zone. A handler may control a maximum of four dogs, any dog showing aggression must be leashed and removed, and you must pick up after your dog. Watch for any fenced remediation or regeneration zones inside the reserve and keep dogs out of them.

What's there. On-site parking with EV charging, a dog water station and a seasonal paddle pool for cooling off, plus waste-bag dispensers. There are no public toilets at the reserve.

Getting there. Off Fernhill Road, Sandringham, with the car park directly beside the off-leash area. Sandringham Station is a few minutes away by car, and local bus routes run nearby.

When to go. Weekday mornings and after-work hours, plus weekend mornings, are the busiest. Because it is unfenced, a quieter mid-morning or early-afternoon weekday slot suits dogs whose recall is still a work in progress.
