Salisbury Recreation Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Salisbury Recreation Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a fully fenced off leash area within the wider reserve at the corner of Evans Road and Wincott Street in Salisbury, on Brisbane's southside. Secure chain wire, open grass and a regular local crowd make it a practical daily exercise spot rather than a destination park.

The dog setup

The enclosure runs off lead inside the fence, with a double gate airlock at the entry and two separate zones so large and small or timid dogs can be kept apart. Outside the fence, the wider reserve is on lead. Brisbane City Council's rules apply: stay in the park, keep your dog in sight and responsive to commands, wait your turn in the airlock, and leash up and leave if your dog turns aggressive. Bins are provided for waste, and glass containers are out.

Worth knowing

The perimeter fencing is high and secure, mature trees and shelters throw partial shade, and benches ring the space for owners. A dog water station is usually working, but carrying a backup bottle is smart on hot afternoons. Regulars describe a friendly crowd and generally clean grounds, though maintenance and grass cover can dip between council visits. Busy afternoons are the main challenge, with the small dog zone filling quickly at peak times.

Getting there and parking

Vehicle access comes via Evans Road, with street parking along Wincott Street and the surrounding suburban streets. Bus routes along Evans Road put you a short walk from the gate. The park is open 24 hours, so early starts work.

Close by with the dogs

The Toohey Ridge Track runs off the back of the reserve for a shaded on lead bushland walk if the enclosure is packed. For coffee, Botanicafe in neighbouring Moorooka is dog friendly outdoors, and if you want a second fenced option in the same suburb there is another at Happy Home Reserve.

Pepsi: Two enclosures means the small dogs are not hosting wrestling practice. Get there midweek mid morning and it is all cool grass and calm dogs.

Weekday mornings around 6:30am to 8am and weekend afternoons are the busiest windows. Best for social dogs that want a secure run, with Toohey Forest as the leashed backup plan.
