Coopers Plains Dog park

Coopers Plains Dog Park is a fully fenced off-leash park inside Brittain Park on Baroda Street, on Brisbane's south side. The split layout does most of the talking: separate large-dog and small-dog zones, agility equipment to keep busy dogs working, and the train station practically next door, which makes it an easy stop rather than a special trip.

The dog setup

The enclosure is fenced with double-gate entries, and the two sized sections mean a timid dog is never mixed in with the boisterous crowd. Basic agility and obstacle equipment, a water tap and bench seating under shade cover round out the amenities, and a bag dispenser is usually stocked, though a spare roll in the car is cheap insurance.

Off-leash status applies inside the fence only. Once you step into the wider Brittain Park grounds the leash goes back on, and the usual council expectations hold: eyes on your dog, reliable voice control, and no dog left unattended. The whole park backs onto a playground, handy if you have kids along, though that traffic means settling a young dog before unclipping pays off.

Worth knowing

After heavy rain the park can flood and the grass turns to mud, so check the weather before a wet-season visit and expect a washable dog if you go anyway. Entry is wheelchair accessible.

The park sits at 39 Baroda Street, with street parking out front and access via a laneway rather than a formal car park. Coopers Plains station on the Beenleigh line is an easy walk, so a train-and-lead-combo visit works well if you live on the line.

Salisbury Recreation Reserve Fenced Dog Park is minutes away with its own split sections if you want a change of yard, and Toohey Ridge Track adds a proper on-leash bushwalk to the day.
