Botanicafe

Botanicafe is a plant-filled brunch spot at 165 Beaudesert Road, Moorooka, and one of the more reliable dog-friendly stops on Brisbane's southside. The team's own line is that they love dogs and they are always welcome, and in practice that means the front and undercover outdoor seating, where your dog can settle beside the table while you work through the menu.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the front, undercover outdoor seating; as with most Queensland cafes they stay outside the dining room. Staff often bring out a water bowl unprompted, though bringing your own is still the safe play on a warm day. The undercover cover matters through Brisbane summer, making this one of the more weather-proof outdoor tables in the area.

The vibe

The kitchen leans healthy and generous: well-regarded coffee, savoury muffins, homemade sausage rolls, acai bowls and a brekky burger. It is a casual, family-friendly room with a kids' play area and board games, so expect some background chatter. Hours run 7am to 2pm on weekdays, 7am to 1:30pm Saturdays and 8:30am to 1:30pm Sundays, so it is strictly a breakfast-and-brunch call.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Beaudesert Road but gets busy; the quieter side streets nearby are a better bet. Buses run along Beaudesert Road with stops close by, and the venue sits an easy few minutes off the Ipswich Motorway corridor for anyone passing through the southside.

Close by with the dogs

The Evans Road fenced dog park is a short drive away for an off-leash run, and Toohey Forest's tracks are only a few minutes further for a proper on-leash walk before or after coffee. Between the two, it is easy to build a full southside morning around a table here.
