Yeronga Memorial Park Fenced Dog Park

Yeronga Memorial Park Fenced Dog Park sits within the larger heritage-listed Yeronga Memorial Park off Park Road, a Brisbane City Council off-leash facility with two separate fenced sections: one for small dogs and puppies, one for large dogs. Being inside a big, shady suburban park with playgrounds, a pool and cricket grounds around it makes this one of the more complete dog park outings on Brisbane's south side.

The dog setup

Entry is through a double-gated airlock, and the two fenced enclosures separate small and large dogs properly rather than with a token divider. Inside there is basic agility equipment, a water tap for dogs, bag dispensers and shade trees with seating. Dogs stay on lead across the wider memorial park until you are both through the gates, then need to stay under effective voice or hand control and within sight.

Clean up straight away using the bins provided, and leash up and remove any dog showing aggression or harassment promptly. Puppies that are not yet vaccinated or registered should not be using the space. The ground is mostly grass, which turns muddy after rain and dusty in dry spells, so expect to be shaking sand out of the car in summer.

Max: hold your dog's leash right until you are both through the second gate, that is where dogs get out on a busy day.

The vibe

Weekday daytimes and Wednesday afternoons are the quiet windows. Saturday evenings and Monday nights draw a crowd, and the wider park fills for junior sport on winter weekends, which affects parking more than the dog park itself. Public toilets sit near the children's playground in the main park.

Getting there and parking

The dog park entrance is on Park Road, with street parking that tightens up on weekends and during sports. The car park off School Road next to Yeronga Pool is the alternative, and it is an easy walk from Yeronga station on the Beenleigh line. Entrances are wheelchair accessible.

Close by with the dogs

M.Y. Roasting Cafe is the local post-park coffee stop, and over the river at Fairfield, Fairfield Park Boathouse & Tea Gardens has outdoor tables by the water. If you want a second fenced run, Fairfield Park Fenced Dog Park is a short drive away.
