Aurora Boulevard Park Fenced Dog Park

Aurora Boulevard Park is a fully fenced off-leash dog park near the corner of Aurora Boulevard and Expedition Drive in North Lakes, with separate enclosures for large and small dogs. The split fencing plus a covered shelter is what sets it apart locally: timid and little dogs get their own secure run, and there is real shade for the owners standing about while the dogs sort themselves out.

The dog setup

Lead on until you are inside the fenced area, then off-leash applies within. Keep your dog under voice control and in sight, and pick up straight away, with bag dispensers usually stocked but worth backing up with your own supply.

There are two fenced runs, agility equipment on the large-dog side, a covered shelter with seating, mature trees for natural shade, a tap with water bowls and bins. Use the small-dog enclosure for little or nervous dogs rather than risking a mismatch with the big runners.

Max: the large-dog side gets a regular morning crew, so if your dog is new to dog parks, the small enclosure or a midday visit is an easier first session.

The vibe

It works as one stop on a longer family outing: the dog park sits next to a playground, barbecues and walking paths, so the kids have something to do while the dog burns off steam. Wide concrete tracks loop the park for an on-lead warm-up.

Getting there

Access is off Aurora Boulevard at Expedition Drive, with on-street parking along Expedition Drive. Local bus routes run through North Lakes, and the Westfield precinct is minutes away if you are combining errands with the dog run. The park fills with regulars before work on weekdays, so late morning tends to be the quiet window.

Close by with the dogs

For a swim afterwards, Deception Bay Dog Beach is about 13 minutes north with sand washing stations and fresh water taps. Capestone Dog Park at Mango Hill and the fenced run at Gardenia Dog Park are the local alternates.
