Percy Treyvaud Memorial Park is a spacious Stonnington reserve off Quentin Road in Malvern East, close to Chadstone. It gives dogs a genuine stretch of space alongside ovals, a bowls club and a strip of light bushland, but the off-leash access carries some conditions worth knowing before you go.

The rules. Off-leash access here is conditional rather than 24/7, and dogs must stay off the sports ovals during games and training. Keep dogs out of the playground and garden beds, under voice control, and carry a lead. Pick up after your dog; bins and bags are provided. Check the on-site signage for the current off-leash conditions.

What is there. There is a sheltered seating area in the north-east corner and a long strip of light bushland north of the bowls club. A water tap sits near the tennis courts, though without a bowl, so bring your own. BBQs, a fenced playground and toilets are north of the car park.

Getting there. On-site parking is off Quentin Road, easy to reach from the Monash Freeway via the Warrigal Road exit. Buses run along Warrigal Road, and it is a moderate walk from Holmesglen station. Parking fills fast during weekend sport.

Nearby with the dogs. The Cubbyhouse Canteen sits on-site for a coffee, and the cafes towards Chadstone add outdoor options.

When to go. Weekday mornings and mid-afternoon are quietest. It is busiest after work, roughly 5 to 7pm, and on weekend mornings, when the ovals in use can squeeze the usable off-leash space.
