What it is. This is a long, grassy off-leash corridor running along the D1 Drainage Reserve between Mossfiel and Callander in Hoppers Crossing, managed by Wyndham City Council. Its length is the point: it gives dogs a proper linear stretch to run and sniff rather than a single enclosed square.
The rules. Dogs may be off-leash here but must stay under effective control, with reliable recall since it is unfenced. Lead up when entering, exiting, or crossing the surrounding on-leash paths. Dogs need a current registration tag, must not chase wildlife, and you must pick up after them.
What's there. Open, flat, grassy running space with dog-waste bags and bins provided. Parts of the corridor sit near playgrounds, so keep the dog clear of play equipment. There is no dedicated dog water point, so bring your own bowl and bottle.
Getting there. The reserve runs between the Derrimut Road end near Mossfiel and Callander Road. Street parking is available along the bordering residential streets such as Callander Road and Glenora Drive. Hoppers Crossing Station is the nearest transit hub, with local bus routes serving the surrounding streets.
When to go. Weekday evenings after 4:30pm and weekend mornings are busiest. Mid-morning or early afternoon on a weekday is quietest. Because the reserve is linear, you can simply walk toward the quieter end if one spot gets crowded.
