Kangaroo Paw Park

Kangaroo Paw Park is a small neighbourhood reserve on the Greenfields side of Mandurah, recently upgraded with a nature-based play fort, ramps and sensory play spaces. Native kangaroo paw plantings give the park its name and put on their best show in spring. This is a lead-on park built for a quiet loop and a picnic stop rather than a big exercise session, so bring a calm dog and a coffee-order attitude rather than a ball thrower.

The dog setup

Dogs stay on lead throughout the park. Under City of Mandurah pet rules, dogs are only allowed off lead inside signed dog exercise areas, and this reserve is not one of them. Bins are provided, so pick up immediately. The sealed paths suit prams and slower legs, and a drinking fountain sits in the park, though there is no dedicated dog bowl, so carry water if you are stopping a while. BBQs and picnic tables make it easy to linger, and a half-court basketball setup rounds out the facilities. With a playground and families close by, keep your dog controlled around the play equipment.

It sits among houses, so expect a local crowd rather than visitors from across Mandurah. Weekday afternoons are the quietest window if your dog is uneasy around children. Weekend mornings bring more families and community activity, and the reserve is a daylight-hours place, with visits winding down by early evening.

The park sits near the Greenfields and Mandurah boundary, reachable off Mandurah Road or Pinjarra Road, with street parking along the adjacent residential streets. Mandurah Station is a short bus ride away on the routes serving Greenfields, which makes it doable without a car.

There is no dedicated public toilet on site, so plan around that if you are making a morning of it. Shading comes from the trees and play shelters rather than a large covered area. For anything beyond a short walk, the City of Mandurah has bigger designated off-lead reserves a few minutes away.
