Brandon Park Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Brandon Park Reserve is a large, open off-leash green space on Brandon Park Drive, on the Glen Waverley and Wheelers Hill edge. It works as a retarding basin with a flat grassy oval ringed by a sealed walking path, so you get both room to run and a clean loop to walk.

The rules. Under City of Monash rules, dogs are off-lead but must stay under effective voice or hand control, with a lead carried at all times. This is an active sportsground, so dogs go on-lead during organised sport, training, or school use, and within 20 metres of the playground, BBQ, or picnic areas. Pick up after your dog using the bins provided. Dogs must also be registered and microchipped under council rules.

What's there. The reserve has a paved walking track around the oval, a playground, sports lighting used for evening training, and a pavilion. Dog drinking fountains are usually available, but carry your own water to be safe. Confirm current access if pavilion or ground works are underway.

Getting there. Access is via Brandon Park Drive, off Ferntree Gully Road, with ample parking by the sports pavilion. Bus route 753 runs along Brandon Park Drive and route 742 stops nearby on Ferntree Gully Road; the nearest train is Glen Waverley with a bus connection.

When to go. Weekday evenings draw training sessions and weekend mornings draw the crowds; weekdays between 10am and 3pm are calmest. If the oval is busy with sport, walk the outer paved track on-lead instead.
