Janice Road Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Janice Road Reserve is an unfenced off-leash strip in Glen Waverley, running about 330 metres along a corridor of open grass beneath the high-voltage transmission lines. It is a neighbourhood walking-and-sniffing space rather than a sprint paddock, and the long, narrow shape keeps dogs near the path the whole way.

The dog setup

This is a City of Monash off-leash area: dogs run off-lead but must stay under effective voice or hand control, and you must carry a lead. Put your dog back on-lead within 20 metres of the playground or any barbecue in use, and bag and bin all waste; the bins sit near the playground. The reserve also connects into the broader powerlines off-leash corridor stretching from Bristol Court to Ivanhoe Street, so a walk here can extend well past the reserve itself.

The kit is basic: open grass with a scatter of trees, a small pocket playground with slides, swings and spring riders, and limited seating. There is no dog water tap, so bring your own bowl, and the ground turns muddy after rain, so a towel in the car is sensible through winter.

Max: this is a corridor, not an oval. Great for steady sniffers, less so for dogs that want long straight sprints.

The vibe

Weekday and weekend mornings draw the local regulars along the strip. For a quieter walk, aim for mid-morning on a weekday or late afternoon midweek. The layout suits calm dogs that like a steady sniff more than dogs that need a big oval to burn off steam.

Getting there and parking

The reserve runs off Janice Road in Glen Waverley, with on-street parking in the surrounding residential streets. Buses run along nearby Coleman Parade, a short walk away, and the Monash corridor arterial roads are close by car.

Close by with the dogs
