Jells Road Reserve Dog Off Leash Area

Jells Road Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is an open grassy strip in Wheelers Hill between the Wheelers Hill Tennis Club courts and Jells Road, with the Scotchmans Creek Trail running through it. Under City of Monash rules it is a designated off-leash space, but it is an unfenced local patch rather than a dog park, and one edge opens straight onto the road.

The dog setup

Dogs run off lead in the open space between the tennis club and Jells Road under effective voice control, with the usual Monash two-dogs-per-person cap. The critical buffer is the trail: dogs must be back on lead within 10 metres of either side of the Scotchmans Creek Trail as it crosses the reserve.

With no fence line between the grass and Jells Road, this is a recall-tested space. Dogs are also excluded from the nearby playground.

What is there

Open grass, bench seating, waste bins and direct access to the paved Scotchmans Creek Trail for an on-lead walk or ride. Accessible parking is listed near the tennis club. It is a straightforward, no-frills daily-exercise patch, not a destination.

Max: treat the 10 metre trail buffer as the real boundary of this park. The shared path carries bikes and prams all day and the off-lead grass is the strip either side of it.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits at 75 Jells Road, Wheelers Hill, with street parking along Jells Road and the surrounding residential streets. Bus routes on Jells Road and Ferntree Gully Road leave a short walk.

Pair it with

The much larger Jells Park and Nortons Park loop starts across the road, though dogs stay on lead through the Parks Victoria sections. For a second off-lead option, the Glen Waverley Golf Course Adjacent Dog Off Leash Area is close by, and Troublemaker Cafe in Mulgrave is the coffee stop.
